Welcome to the Fitness Mama blog!  Fitness Mama was initially created on instagram (follow us! @fitnessmama_) in September of 2012, featuring everything you find at the intersection of fitness and motherhood.  From fitness ideas and inspiration to weight loss success stories and healthy meal ideas and snacks for yourself and the whole family.  With over 3200 followers as of today (and counting!) on instagram, many women turn to Fitness Mama for inspiration.  Staying active, getting regular exercise and eating right can sometimes take a back burner as being a mom can lead to hectic days (Or weeks.  Or months for that matter!  We totally get this!).  Fitness Mama was created to help ALL women, especially mothers, to inspire, motivate and encourage one another in getting healthy.  Here at the Fitness Mama blog, we hope to continue to inspire and to expand the conversation in how we and our families can live a healthy lifestyle and live life to the fullest.  Thank you for stopping by!

My name is Christelyn and I am the founder/creator of Fitness Mama.  I'm a full time wife and mother of two kids ages, 7 and 2.  I'm a certified LVN and a certified Hot Hula Fitness instructor in the Sacramento area.

The past year and a half has been life changing not only for myself but for my family as well.  We changed from an extremely unhealthy, sedentary lifestyle to a healthy, active lifestyle.  The road has not been easy and there have been ups and downs.  Having to balance being a wife and mom and the daily routines is hard enough.  And then incorporating time to workout is a battle within itself!  It took a lot of courage and perseverance to even begin in the first place. I knew that if I didn't change, my kids' unhealthy habits would definitely take a toll on them when they got older.  To date, I've lost 60 lbs and still working towards my goal.  Click here and here for more about my weight loss journey.  And then here and here for more about how I got started.  It has become my passion to help others to become more healthy while facing life's challenges.



My name is Christina.  I'm married and we have two kids ages, 15 and 6.  I work full time as a Registered Nurse,  focusing on pediatric primary care in the SF Bay Area.  I LOVE everything about running and am so thankful I found it.  This still sounds a little odd for me to say only because I started running only about two years ago.  Two years ago, I hated running and I couldn't run down my block without stopping to walk, being so out of breath.  But with my blood pressure reading high (I'm only in my 30's!) compounded with a long family history of high blood pressure and heart disease AND me feeling so tired all the time, I knew it was time to start getting regular exercise.  I stuck with running because after getting over the initial mental hurdle of running being SO HARD, I started to love the feeling I got exploring new places, feeling accomplished after a long run, and feeling that runner's high.  I ran my first half marathon in January of 2012 and haven't stopped running regularly since.  I may not be the fastest but that's ok;  another thing I like about running is that you're only competing with yourself.  Other than that, I also love to cook, read, and watch baseball (Go A's!).
